Today I bring you part 2 of the simple pointers that I bring you few days back.

Would You Buy It Yourself?

When checking out affiliate programs, look at the sales page. If you were looking to buy a specific product, is their copy/product good enough that you would buy it yourself? If the answer is “yes”, you know you have a winner. If not, you might want to try looking somewhere else.

The Key Is an Honest Review

When writing a review article of a product, I find that genuine recommendations always work best. I’ve had the best results form affiliate programs where I gave an open and honest opinion with both the good and the bad aspects included. If it is an ebook or an information product, you should reveal the author and his/her credentials, and what information you will find in the e-book.

Only Link To Quality Products

Only choose products and companies with a good reputation. There’s nothing worse than writing a great review of a bad product with an even worst sales page. Only acquire good quality products and give people compelling reasons to buy them. Only recommend products that you would use yourself and genuinely stand behind. Your reputation could be at stake!

Presell It With a “How To” Article

A “How To” article helps people solve a specific problem or achieve a specific result. In your article, start with the problem of desired outcome, and give step-by-step advice on how to solve it.

Somewhere towards the end of the article, mention about software the helps the readers automate or skip parts of your article. Even though people have discovered the solution, they may still not want to do it by themselves, and if the software you are writing about helps them do it faster or easier, they will definitely consider buying it.

A couple of things you should think about are the conversion rates of the sales pages you will be sending your visitors to, and how commission is paid, and above all, you need to make sure that your articles you are promoting will actually sell.

Also, products get off the market all the time. So make sure you have more than one affiliate program available for each product you are promoting. That way, if the one you’re promoting disappears, you can simply switch it with another program, and update the links in the article sites.

Another thing you should keep in mind is keeping track of all the products you are promoting. Make sure every few weeks that your affiliate links are working. I have a nice spreadsheet that I’ve put together, which I export into a HTML webpage. This way, I open up the links one at a time, making sure they all work. if they don’t, I need to update the link.

Happy promoting! :)
